One Thought That Stops Your Brain Dead In Its Tracks
As I sat in front of my laptop I pondered what I should write about on today’s blog post. My knee jerk thought was, “I don’t know”. Our brains love to solve problems, that is what they are best at. When we think the thought “I don’t know”, our brains immediately shut off because they think the problem is solved. Done. That’s a wrap. End of story. IDK, as the youngsters say, is the best way to stop your creative problem solving juices from flowing; a problem solving dam.
There is a teeny tiny word that breaks the dam… YET. “ I don’t know yet” lets your brain know that it is time to take action, there are problems to be solved.
Another option is to ask yourself, “If I did know, what would I do”. It sounds funny, but it is a great little brain hack. When we ask that question, we usually come up with the answer pretty quick.
I don’t know how to fix my marriage stops you from figuring it out. I am figuring out how to make my marriage better opens you up to all the possibilities.
